Laurie White, LSCSW | Counselor

Laurie White began her journey at House of Hope in 2010, while earning two Service-Learning Certificates from Johnson County Community College for her volunteer work with the annual Stars and Spurs fundraiser. She recalls learning to use her strengths as a former professional cake decorator while teaching a cake decorating class to the residents, while sharing her story of how she came to faith in Jesus.  Later she had to resign her full-time job as a Paralegal to pursue God’s calling to be a social worker, she applied for the House Staff job on two different occasions.  Marilyn called her for an interview, and from that day forward she would begin her career with House of Hope as a House staff, to Senior House Staff to Program Director to Counselor while earning her degree. Laurie graduated from the University of Kansas in 2017 with her master’s in social work and began her clinical supervision in December of 2017.   She is currently working towards getting her permanent License Master Addiction Counselor (LMAC).  The best part of her job is getting to know the teenagers and helping families repair and restore relationships.
